Through collaboration and innovative problem solving, a team of six chemical engineering students won first place in their task at the 32nd WERC Environmental Design Contest in Las Cruces, N.M.

2021 Hearst Journalism Awards

Recent Ohio University graduate Alie Skowronski was named the 2021 Hearst Photojournalism Championship winner, with OHIO rising senior Nate Swanson being named a finalist in the same category in the 2021 Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

Scripps journalism students pick up nine awards in regional competition

Students from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism were honored April 10 for their reporting, opinion writing, photography and independent media organization skills in the Region 4 Mark of Excellence awards sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists. The awards were announced in a virtual ceremony due to COVID-19. Region 4 includes Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Ohio University competes in the large university division.

American Physical Therapy Association Geriatrics Consumer video contest

Third-year physical therapy students Spencer Edwards from Kaysville, Utah, and Kelly Rhodes from Lexington, Ohio, received high marks for their video submissions during this year's American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Geriatrics Consumer Video contest. Edwards placed third in this year's contest, and Rhodes placed fourth. Both students were able to participate in the event through the Division of Physical Therapy's "Physical Therapy for the Geriatric Population" course, an elective option offered to third-year physical therapy students interested in enhancing their foundational skills and knowledge by examining concepts related to the older adult in physical therapy practice.

Hearst Journalism Awards Program

OHIO students Nate Swanson and Alexandra Skowronski placed second and fourth, respectively, in the Photojournalism Features and News Competition of the 2020-2021 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. The winners in this first competition of the year were selected from 117 entries submitted from 65 universities nationwide.

Creative Works Winner

This summer, Ohio University's School of Media Arts and Studies gave students a platform to innovate and create through the 2020 MDIA Creative Works Program. The program not only highlighted student's talent but it also showcased their ability to create content, using unconventional methods, during a global pandemic.

Society of Professional Journalists Region 4 Mark of Excellence contest

Students from OHIO's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism won top prize in four categories in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 4 Mark of Excellence contest. Several Scripps students also finished as finalists in seven other categories. SPJ's Region 4 comprises Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. First-place winners will compete at the national level among winners from SPJ's other 11 regions. Ohio University competes in the large university division (enrollment 10,000+).
