Recent Ohio University alum, Trevor Brighton, won a National Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for illustrations he created for a cover of OHIO's student newspaper, The Post. The story titled "Erasing Russia" covered the loss of Ohio University's Russian studies program.

Ohio University campus journalists and photojournalists competed successfully in the Region 4 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Mark of Excellence awards that were announced April 15 at the Region 4/5 Conference.

Gage Bray, who graduates this spring with his Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus in special education-intervention education, is one of four Patton College of Education students selected for the Lester D. Crow award. Bray started his college career at Ohio University Chillicothe and also spent time at the Athens campus before returning to Chillicothe to complete his professional internship at Southeastern Middle School.

Ohio University senior Nate Frimel has been selected to the Army ROTC Top 10 Order of Merit List. Major General Antonio Munera, commander of United States Army Cadet Command which oversees Army ROTC, recognized Frimel last week as the 10th best Army ROTC cadet in the nation.

Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed 235 new initiates from 11 universities during October 2022. Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

A story about a competition for womxn-only video game players brought an E.W. Scripps School of Journalism student a second reporting award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Joseph Stanichar, a senior from Cincinnati, was again honored with the national Video Game Reporting category award in the annual Mark of Excellence competition, which honors the best in student journalism.

Recent Ohio University alumna Callie Martindale was awarded the Dr. Herman "Butch" Hill Graduate Fellowship in the amount of $2,000 from Alpha Lambda Delta, an honor society that recognizes students' academic success in their first year at a college or university.
